I mean, we have to yell quite load when I am in the front of the house and he is in the bedroom. It’s pretty awesome. We have decided to act more like adults instead of college students and take the time to find the right furniture for the new place. We are currently eating dinner on our old patio table, but hope to make a dining room table from an old door sometime next year (watch for that post!) As for the living room/reading room, my husband is going to build some bookshelves and then we are thinking of getting ourselves some comfy chairs. Comfy chairs are the main focus for me tonight.

Can you get creative reuse AND comfort? Let’s find out.

Ok, not comfortable, but REALLY CUTE!

So, I have my great grandmother’s old suitcases that I use for simple home decor at the moment. But, now I think I may call and ask my mom if she would mind me turning them into comfy and unique luggage chairs! Thanks to tigerattacktwins.blogspot.com for the photo!

Not sure if I would qualify this as “comfortable” but I can’t say for sure because I have never had the privilege of lounging in a CD chair.

How to Reuse CD Cass to Make a Bird House.

1. You will need 5 Cd cases.

2. Remove all of the insides from the CD cases.

3. The bottom of the house will be one full CD case with the back half of a CD case glued to the top of it. That way when you put your bird seed in the house it is less likely to fall out.

4. Glue full CD cases across from each other to make the sides of the house.

5. Open a CD case and glue it to the top of the two sides. Make sure the inside of the case is pointing upwards. This will create another level that you can place bird feed on.

6. I decided to add a dorky painting on my bird house. I thought the birds would appreciate the decorations. If you are a dork like me, go ahead and paint your new bird house.

7. Take some fishing line and loop it around the top of your bird house. Tie the two ends into a knot. Do the same thing on the other side of your bird house “roof.”

8. Take another piece of fishing line and tie the two loops you just created together. Take the rest of that fishing line and tie your tree house to a branch.

9. Add some bird feed and enjoy the show!

I wanted to make it some friends to hang out with, but didn’t really know what I could add to a kitchen wall that would fit with the room. This afternoon as I was sifting through my boxes of random materials for inspiration I found three things: A Betty Crocker Cookbook, old cd cases, and last years Word-a-Day Calendar. So, I started reading the definitions and found some words that related to eating and food and the idea came rushing to my head. Word and Food Wall Art! So I made art, hung it up with the clock and now he’s happy. Make your own CD Wall Art! Here’s How to Reuse a Cd Case, Word-a-Day Calendar and a Cookbook to make Wall Art: 1.
Make your own CD Wall Art!

Here’s How to Reuse a Cd Case, Word-a-Day Calendar and a Cookbook to make Wall Art:

1. Find words that relate to food and eating.

2. Find photos of food that you like in the cook book.

3. Cut the food photos so they will slide into the front of the CD case.
4. Cut the words pages so they fit nicely on the food photo. Use double sided tape to place the words where you like.
5. Slide your art into the case and you are done!

6. A lot of folks use velcro to hang their CD Wall Art to their walls. I don’t own the walls in my house, so I decided to go with adhesive. A lot easier to remove later on down the road.

7. Hang them however you like and pat yourself on the back for your 3-in-1 upcycled wall art.

I am still working through the big box of CDs and CD cases that my husband donated to my reuse it creatively cause. This week I decided to use up some old photos and show them in a new way! I had a lot of fun using an old gift bag and some vintage ribbon on the project as well. So, here’s How to Reuse CD cases to Make a Magnetic Picture Holder: 1. Using an X-acto knife, cut the edges of the CD case away so that you are left with a square. Do this to both sides of the case. Use sandpaper to smooth edges after you have cut your squares. 2. Pick a background for your picture holder. Glue your background to one of your new squares. 3. Glue your photo in the center of your background. 4. Using a hot glue gun, put glue around the outside of your background square. Quickly place your top square on top and squeeze them together. 5. Choose some old ribbon or fabric for your outer frame. Cut out 4 equal length strips. Glue the strips to the outer edges to frame your photo. 6. Using hot glue again, glue [...]
