How to Reuse Playing Cards to make Petal Earrings.
A while back I made some simple playing card earrings that I deemed perfect for your next poker night or crazy Las Vegas weekend. Well, I have now designed version TWO of my playing card earrings product line. This version is a bit smaller, slightly more complicated and still just as fun! So, if you have a deck of cards laying around that you are wondering how to reuse, I have a tutorial that will upcycle 2 of those cards. How to Reuse Playing Cards to Make Petal Shaped Earrings:
1. Pick the two cards that you would like to use. I chose the king and queen of spades.
2. Cut 3 petal shapes from each card.
3. Lay the petals in a stack and spread them out so that the tops are still stacked but the bottoms are expanding away from each other.
4. Pick a button to go on the top of your petals. Get some thread and a sewing needle (tie a double or triple knot at the end). Push the needle through all three cards and then through one of the button holes. Keep sewing your thread through each button hole.
5. When you have gone through each button hole twice cut the thread where it meets the needle (you need extra thread to attach your earring hook). Now you have two pieces of thread. Tie them in a knot two times to secure your button and cards in place.
6. Hold your earring by the top of the thread and let it spin until it settles. Put the thread through the earring hook so that the front side of your earring will show when the hook is in your ear. Tie two knots to attach the thread to the earring hook.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 for the other card.
And there you go, easy as easy!

How to Reuse Playing Cards to Make a Bracelet.
Playing cards are becoming a versatile material in my house these days. I just finished turning two cards into an arm cuff/bracelet sort of thing. The cards are awesome on their own with their lovely flower bouquets and lavender and blue color. But, they are even cooler sewn together to make a unique upcycled bracelet.

How to Reuse Playing Cards to Make a Bracelet:
1. You will need two playing cards, three buttons, some thread and a needle.
2. Place the cards next to each other short side to short side. One playing card with the card showing, the other with the back side showing.
3. Sew the cards together.
Make sure to secure the threading by tying the end in a double knot.
4. Starting from the back side of your bracelet sew a big button to the far end (opposite the threaded side) of one of the cards.
After going through the button holes a few times, secure the button by pushing the needle underneath the thread (on the back side). A loop will be created; Put the needle through the loop two or three times and then pull tight! You will have a knot and a secure button.
5. Sew a smaller button on the other card. Make your last time through a hole a time when the needle comes through the top side of the card. Cut the needle out of the thread; leave some extra thread! Tie the two pieces of thread in a knot a couple of times to secure your small button to the bracelet.
6. Thread the remaining thread through a button and tie the button to the end of the thread.
How to Reuse Playing Cards to Make a Purse.
This tutorial has been a long and drawn out process, but it is finally here. After several miserable failures I have made my own version of a playing card purse! It is not that functional, but it sure is cute! I think it will go great by my front door as a mail bag (:
Ok, so here’s a tutorial so you can make your very own Playing Card Purse:
1. You will need 23 cards. Split them up into 2, 2, 3, 8 and 8. The 2′s will be the sides, the 3 the bottom and the 8′s the main faces.
2. Find a plastic that needs to be reused. My plastic came from my husband’s old transparencies. Those don’t get used for presentations anymore (: Using modge podge sandwich and glue your playing cards in between two plastic sheets.
Ok, now you have to let these puppies dry. For me, it took about 3 days.
3. When the glue dries cut the excess plastic away so you have sort of laminated and sturdy cards.
4. Cut out your desired handle hole.
5. Poke holes around your purse where ever it will need to be threaded. So, everywhere except the top of the purse. I chose which cards where going to be attached to which, stacked them correct side to correct side and poked holes through both of them at the same time (it makes threading easier.)
6. Thread the purse together! Make sure to ties knots at all the ends to add extra support.
7. Take your new digs out for a spin!!!
How to make earrings out of playing cards.
I hate when I go to play poker and realize that a card is missing from the deck. It’s like when you are about the finish a puzzle and you finally notice that there are some pieces missing. Man that really gets me going. (: Well, rather than tossing the whole deck of cards out as a loss, add to your super funky and fresh jewelry collection!
How to make earrings out of playing cards:
1. Pick a pair of cards you like.
2. Poke eleven holes across the top of each card with a sewing needle.
3. Thread some heavy duty thread (starting through the back and at one end) over the top of the card. Only go through the first 5 holes. Do the same starting on the opposite side.
4. Loop each piece of thread through your earring holder and back through the center hole.
5. Tie a knot with both of your strings. Make a triple knot so it doesn’t go back through the hole.
6. Repeat this process with the other card!
