I have always been intrigued by artists that use alternative “canvases.” It keeps the art world and the artists within it on their toes. Art is supposed to challenge us in several ways. Gwyneth Leech is challenging us to think about what art is, what it is supposed to look like and what we do with a material after we’ve “used” it.
To add to the awesomeness of this work, it is in the public view! It’s free to look at and free to ponder about for as long as each person wants. Gwyneth has also been sitting at the window making works of art and adding to the installation, chatting with passersby and encouraging them to create their own works of coffee cup art. I love her and I don’t even know her! Cheers to you Gwyneth and your creative reuse art. Hopefully it encourages others to reuse and re-think what it is they use on a daily basis.
